“The NIGHT(MARE)BEFORE CHRISTMAS” 2023

The Sorensen School of Dance will continue its tradition of presenting an annual fundraiser show where we donate proceeds to charity. This year commemorates our 13th year presenting a fundraising show! “The Night(mare) before Christmas debuted last year and will continue to be the theme for this years fall show. This year our show is November 21, 2023 at the ACC! Mark your calendar!

The show features the studio's Ballet, Tap and Modern Exam students along with our Competition Team dancers. The show is presented in honour of a former student of Sorensen School of Dance, Bethany Danielle Pike, who passed away in 2008. Over the past twelve years, the studio has donated over $33,000.00 to various charities. The show reminds us all of how fortunate we are and to give back to the community. Mark your calendar!!!

Santa Claus Parade

The studio has been participating in the Downtown Santa Claus Parade for over 15 years, most consistently since 2008. This event is a great opportunity for our dancers to show how much we love to perform and to celebrate the joy of Christmas!

The studio has placed in the Best Performing Group Category (Dance) on several occasions. Most recently we placed 1st in the 2023 parade with our beautiful Soldiers. We placed 2nd place in 2022; 3rd in 2015, 2012 and 2nd in 2009.

We look forward to participating in the parade again next year!I It’s always so much fun!!! Thanks to Miss Abigail and Miss Hilary for always preparing our students so beautifully and for loving the parade as much as the dancers!!!

2017 Tim Horton’s Brier

March of 2017 was a very exciting time at SSOD as we were invited to dance at the St. John’s Brier.  Our SSOD dancers performed as  part of the  pre-game on ice entertainment and in the Brier Patch. To have the opportunity to perform at this massive event was truly an honor and we loved the huge crowds and big energy associated with this National curling event. To cap it all off Team Gushue from NL WON!!!

STUDIO HALLOWEEN PARTY

We are so happy to have resumed this studio tradition in 2023! We had such a great time dancing, playing games, and eating Halloween treats!

workshops and guest teachers

Part of The studio’s mandate is to expose our dancers to workshops and guest teachers. This nurtures confidence, development of presentation/sense of style and exposure to the endless breathe of dance. We have had many Ballet, Tap, Hip Hop, Jazz Funk and Modern workshops held at the studio over the last 34 years. Most recently…
